investments, or reduce operations for cost savings. Such alignment proves that
operational investments or operational cutbacks are not arbitrary.

iA 2 line of Sight
The best decisions are informed decisions. The IA 2 line of sight (IA 2 LoS) is a for-
mal alignment of business drivers with operations and maintenance (O&M). Too
often, such alignment between the abstractness of architecture and the specific
requirements of operations is a cloud with details left to imagination and intui-
tive leaps. The IA 2 LoS (Figure 2.7) provides distinct links from business drivers
through to architecture, implementation, and operations.
