Information assurance
architecture (IA 2 )
1. The art of consciously forming a coherent
structure of information assurance services and
mechanisms. 2. The documentation resulting from
the IA architect applying the IA 2 Framework.
Information assurance
management program
(IAMP)
The initiative to formally define the organizational
approach to information assurance; similar to an
SMP.
Innovator
One who creates or enhances; an introducer of
something new.
Instance
An example of a category.
Integrate
To blend, coordinate, or unite with; e.g., the purpose
of IA 2 is to provide tools, templates, and
methodology to integrate IA with the enterprise by
way of integrating IA with EA and other business
perspectives.
Integrity
Information remains unchanged from source to
destination and has not been accidentally or
maliciously modified.
Interface
A place of interaction; a communication point.
Management
A process of tactical decision making and execution
using governance directives as guidance.
Measure
A numeric amount (e.g., 100, 50,000, 12). A metric
specifies the standard of measure. A measure is
how many of the metric (e.g., 100 yards is the length
of an American football field; yards is the metric,
100 is the amount of that metric).
Mechanism
Equipment, tool, or component.
Metadata
Data about data; e.g., creator, date of creation, date
of last modification, classification, data owner.
Meta-view
Viewing the whole with the intent of deriving a
broader perspective and overall order (e.g., viewing
the forest versus the trees).
Methodology
A set of formal procedures.
Metric
A standard of measure (e.g., quantity [or count],
yards, meters, inches, liters, etc.).
