SV-2
Systems
communications
description
Systems nodes, systems, and system items, and
their related communications lay-downs
Interfaces are the public view of the system.
Communications is the exchange of information
or data through interfaces. The risks of the
interfaces (access) are in SV-1. The risks of how
the information exchange are in the SV-2.
SV-3
Systems-systems
matrix
Relationships among systems in a given
architecture; can be designed to show
relationships of interest, e.g., system-type
interfaces, planned versus existing interfaces, etc.
A system matrix examines the relationships among
systems. Do the business requirements lead to
integration, interoperability, federation, or a
combination? Example risks include technical
incompatibilities, costs of integrating systems,
organizational politics that override technical
capabilities, etc.
SV-4
Systems functionality
description
Functions performed by systems and the system
data lows among system functions
SV-4 looks at what the system does and the process
it performs. Use IA 2 to identify the risks of
performing the system functions. For example,
has technical expediency ignored the reason to
maintain privacy for employees? For customers?
SV-5
Operational activity
to systems function
traceability matrix
Mapping of systems back to capabilities or of
system functions back to operational activities
Traceability matrix ensures alignment from
business requirements to the technical
mechanisms that fulill the requirements. Use the
IA 2 , speciically the IA 2 LoS, to insert alignment of
IA solutions to the business drivers that motivate
them.
