and a rise in global temperatures can be expected to have significant im-
pact on postharvest quality by altering important quality parameters such
as synthesis of sugars, organic acids, antioxidant compounds, and firm-
ness. Rising levels of carbon dioxide also contribute to global warming,
by entrapping heat in the atmosphere. Increased levels of ozone in the
atmosphere can lead to detrimental effects on postharvest quality of fruit
and vegetable crops. Elevated levels of ozone can induce visual injury and
physiological disorders in different species, as well as significant changes
in dry matter, reducing sugars, citric and malic acid, among other impor-
tant quality parameters. Erratic and unusual rainfall pattern is also affect-
ing the fruit production and quality to cause enough economic loss.
