P ALAWAN
KALUI
Eating
Kalui has a lovely Balinese ambience - wooden floors, colourful paintings, sculptures and
masks adorn the walls, and there's a general air of sophistication. Choose from a few vari-
eties of seafood, all served with veggies, plus there's a delightful fruit-mix dessert served in
a hollowed-out coconut. Located in Puerto Princesa.
BADJAO SEAFRONT RESTAURANT
Eating
This Puerto Princesa restaurant, perched over the water at the end of a raised boardwalk, is
fairly high class in terms of table settings, but it's the sea and mountain views that raise it
above the ordinary. A long lunch gnawing on whole grilled fish and other seafood is a nice
way to spend an afternoon.
KINABUCHS GRILL & BAR
Eating
This is where a good chunk of Puerto Princesa seems to go at night. It's a large open-air
property with several billiard tables, big-screen TVs and an extensive menu, though most
people come for the cheap beer and lively atmosphere.
BALAY TUBAY
Nightlife
Balay Tubay is the Filipino equivalent of a small downtown club for singer-songwriters.
There's live music most nights from 8pm to midnight, when the owner plays bongo drums
and sings back-up harmony. It has an extensive menu of grilled and sizzling seafood along
with more generic fare.
