BULABOG PUTI-AN NATIONAL PARK
Climbing
About 33km north of Iloilo, this 854-hectare park is home to monkeys, endangered py-
thons and old-growth forest. Its particular attraction, though, is for climbers: some of the
best rock climbing routes in the Philippines have been set up in the park by local enthusi-
asts.
GUIMARAS
Mountain Biking
This island is renowned for its sweet mangoes, but its winding scenic roads also lure in
mountain bikers. The area is perfect for exploration on two wheels, but be warned that it's
easy to get lost on the island.
MT KANLAON NATURAL PARK
Natural Park
The most rewarding part of the climb to the active volcano Mt Kanlaon (2465m) is the
home stretch to the summit where, on a clear day, you can see Margaha Valley below, the
smoking crater above and Bacolod in the distance. Species that inhabit the region include
wild boar, leopard cat, spotted deer, hornbill, and the endangered bleeding-heart pigeon.
