PANGLAO ISLAND
Diving
Diving is what draws tourists to Panglao Island, with the island offering some of the finest
spots in the Philippines. Discover the underwater paradise of Balicasag Island, off Panglao.
Pamilacan Island is also very nice, but less visited as its corals are left to recover from dy-
namite fishing.
MALAPASCUA ISLAND
Diving
Diving with the thresher sharks is the main highlight here - it's one of the best places in the
world to see these distinctive long-tailed sharks. The most popular dive off Malapascua is
Monad Shoal, where you can see thresher sharks and manta rays.
PESCADOR ISLAND
Diving
Tiny Pescador Island offers some of Cebu's most spectacular diving. With generally excel-
lent visibility and depths of around 50m, the island's waters are usually teeming with fish,
with the occasional cameo appearance from thresher sharks.
APO ISLAND
Diving
Situated in Negros' southeastern corner, Apo Island (not to be confused with Apo Reef) is
one of the most successful and best-run marine reserves in the Philippines. The reserve
contains a vital marine breeding ground and is a favourite site among divers and snorkellers
for its excellent visibility and abundance of green sea turtles feeding in the shallows.
PADRE BURGOS
Diving
Padre Burgos is considered to be one of the premier diving spots in the Philippines due to
its pristine hard and soft coral reefs; deep wall, cave and current dives; and its abundant,
varied big fish, particularly its population of whale sharks.
