APO REEF NATURAL PARK
Diving
Apo Reef is the largest atoll-type reef in the Philippines, and arguably its best dive site. The
crystal-clear waters abound with life, including 285 species of fish and 197 species of cor-
al. Both snorkellers and divers are guaranteed large fish action - mostly white-tip and
black-tip sharks, reef sharks, wrasses and tuna.
PUERTO GALERA
Diving & Sailing
Puerto Galera offers some of the country's prime underwater real estate. Special critters
that live among the coral include frogfish and mandarin fish, pygmy sea horses, ghost
pipefish and nudibranches. Some of the best diving is around Verde Island, a few kilo-
metres off shore. Keen to stay above water? Sailors can head over to the Puerto Galera
Yacht Club, which will team you with an experienced sailor for its 'Wet Wednesday' after-
noon fun races.
