US Customs
The border crossings listed below are open 24 hours a day, seven days a
week. All vehicles, including snowmobiles, must stop. For opening times
at other crossing points where schedule varies, or for appointments
(which must be made for all flights or boat trips making first stop in US),
telephone the Bangor Office at
(207) 942-7239 or 780-3328.
WISE WORDS: When crossing into New Brunswick,
Canada, you pass into a different time zone. Remem-
ber to adjust your watches and alarm clocks accord-
ingly (back by one hour).
At Customs you will probably be asked if you are a US citizen, as well as
where you are going, how long you will be there, and if you have any live
plant materials in your vehicle (a definite no-no). You will need at least
two forms of identification to get back in to the country (a passport is not
necessary unless you are a non-US citizen) and you will be asked if you
have made various purchases.
Under no circumstances try to bring a fire-
arm into Canada without the proper paper-
work in-hand. Firearms are serious business,
and you should treat them as such.
