Cabin Great Northern Cabins . In 1998 Great Northern Paper Com-
pany authorized construction of four rustic log cabins on their
lands adjacent to Baxter State Park and along the West Branch
of the Penobscot River near Millinocket. These isolated, snug units in-
clude bunks for six (more can crash on the floor), gas lights, a gas furnace,
a sink with wash water, log table and chairs, a porch and a heated, insu-
lated privy. Users need to bring sleeping pads, cooking gear, drinking and
cooking water pots, pans, coolers etc. All units can be accessed year-
