Adventures On Foot
Hiking
Bald Mountain, Dedham : With so many more popular hikes
nearby, many climbers often overlook Bald Mountain in
Dedham. Because a good access road goes much of the way to the
top, the real climb to the 1,234-foot summit is actually quite short. Begin
on Dedham Road at a parking area on a sharp curve and climb quickly
through forest that gradually gives way to fleeting views over blueberry
bushes. It is about .75 miles to the top and the path is quite steep at
times. The total elevation gain of about 500 feet. There is a cluster of tele-
vision, radio and cellular antennas on the summit as well as generator
and transmitter buildings and a fire tower. The broad, flat top sports
good views in all directions. Easy to moderate.
