ers, but is listed here as many folks will undoubtedly seek it out.
Anyone with a fear of heights or who lacks
good physical dexterity or the proper gear
should avoid this route.
From the top of the chimney it is only a few hundred yards to the summit.
At the intersection with the Old Chimney Trail, the Loop Trail cuts to the
right, heads east for a time and then cuts left and rises steeply. As it tra-
verses a rocky slide the trail passes under fallen boulders in a section
called “Fat Man's Misery.” It then rises steeply to the top and joins the
Ridge Trail. It is only a short ways (left) to the summit. From the top
there are great views of surrounding peaks.
Both these routes are very strenuous.
