In-Depth Information
small fee, usually by the pint. If picking in the wild while hiking, use
sturdy container to bring your wild bounty home. Here's where to go:
Pick-Your-Own Blueberries
Acadia
Acadia National Park , Mount Desert Island. Blueberries grow
wild on most open summits and hills. Park rules allow picking for
personal consumption. Birds love to eat berries too. But, they are
timid about getting too close to vegetation. (My secret picking
spots are the summits of Sargent and Penobscot Mountain. Look
for good picking where fields meet forests and clumps of trees.)
Ben's Berry Patch , Long Pond Road, Southwest Harbor. Open
all day. No fee. No pesticides. Nice views of nearby Western,
Beech Mountains.

Cherryfield
Beddington Ridge Farm , Route 193. Open through August.
Call ahead.
