Places to Paddle
Blue Hill Falls
This reversing tidal rapid is a favorite whitewater play spot for
covered boaters. It is located under the Route 175 bridge just
southeast of the village. About 300 feet long, this falls runs best
beginning about three hours after low tide. It builds over the
next several hours to a Class IV run. Limited parking available near the
bridge.
Donnell Pond
This gem of a lake was recently protected and much of the shoreline be-
came public reserve land. Paddlers can begin in the cove at the west end
of the lake where a rough, hand-carry ramp is located. Be sure to put a
donation into the lock box for maintenance.
The cove is lined with many camps but just beyond lies open country.
Mile Island is a great place to picnic and explore. It has a small gravel
landing and swimming beach on the southeast side. Most of the eastern
