Maine Wildlife Park , Gray. Maine Deptartment of Inland Fisheries
and Wildlife Game Farm and Visitors Center on Route 26. A great place
to view and learn more about wildlife. The 200-acre park has 25 species of
wildlife, including moose, black bears, lynx, mountain lions, wild tur-
keys, bald eagles, owls, a show fish pool and more. Open daily May
through November. Picnic and grill areas, bookstore and gift shop. Adults
$3.50, children $2.

Deering Oakes , Portland. Portland's largest city park features many
stately old trees, footpaths, and ponds. Skating in winter. Flower garden
and duck pond. At Park and Forest Streets.

Bradbury Mountain State Park , Pownal. Located on Route 9, the cen-
terpiece of this park is a granite cliff at the 484-foot bald summit that
overlooks Casco Bay. There are hiking trails, cross-country ski trails, a
picnic area, a softball field and a public campground.

Ferry Beach State Park , Saco. A small park with a fine sand ocean
swimming beach, toilet, bathhouse, picnic areas and hiking trails. There
is an entrance fee. Open from mid-May until mid-October. On Route 9
near Camp Ellis.

Mackworth Island , Falmouth. Located off US 1 this island features a
circular walking trail that skirts the shore with good views of Portland.

Scarborough Beach Park , Scarborough. A very popular fine sand
beach with good surf, dunes, and a salt marsh. There is a bathhouse, pic-
nic tables, grills. Fishing is allowed. Entrance fee. On Route 207 on way
to Prout's Neck.

Sohier Park , York. Tiny park on Cape Neddick sports interesting geol-
ogy and good views of Nubble Light. Birdwatching along the shore.
