This is the Mecca of paddle sports equipment in Maine (you can tell when
you pull onto the property as it is literally surrounded by hundreds of
canoes and kayaks of various brand names). They even have their own
pond so you can test before you buy.
Inside, the multi-level retail store is packed with every piece of equip-
ment and clothing you can think of for paddling, hiking, camping, moun-
tain biking and more. They also have a highly-trained bicycle servicing
department and rentals. Although production was moved from nearby
Camden to the West Coast years ago, you can still buy top-of-the-line
Moss Tents at Maine Sports. This outfitter also offers guided trips and
has a paddling equipment rental operation. Open year-round.

Sooner or later they all come to the Old Town Canoe Factory Outlet.
Great deals on factory seconds, including the popular Discovery models,
which are virtually indestructible. Hundreds of dollars in savings possi-
ble on canoes and kayaks rejected by inspectors, often for minor cosmetic
scratches or color blemishes. The knowledgeable sales staff can help you
pick out just the right boat. Prices are often below what people advertise
for used canoes in newspapers and shoppers. I dare anyone to find the
original defect after just one run down a rock-strewn river!
The factory store features broad selection of accessories and repair kits
ranging from replacement thwarts and cane seats to dozens of different-
sized paddles, to life jackets, spray skirts, hardware, books, maps, and
company memorabilia.
