Licenses & Rules
Hunting licenses can be purchased at town offices across the state. Types
of licenses include small or large game. They can be obtained in combina-
tion with fishing licenses at an impressive discount. Fees for non-
residents vary from $55 to $85.
Separate licenses are required for bow hunting or use of muzzleloading
firearms.
Also, special stamps or permits are required for bear, moose, waterfowl
and turkey.
Rule books are provided when a hunting license is purchased. Among the
more important regulations are those dealing with safety.
All firearm hunters must wear two items of blaze orange cloth-
ing, one of which must be a hat.
No firearm can be discharged in proximity of a home, building
or school.
No hunting is allowed from a motor vehicle or from a paved
road. Those found with loaded firearms in a vehicle, or con-
cealed loaded firearms in a vehicle, face heavy fines and time
in jail.
Hunters who fail to completely identify their targets and
cause injury or property damage can face criminal charges.
People who suspect someone is poaching can call game wardens toll-free
at Operation Game Thief ,
