cards using card readers. Basically, if your media is in a digital format that Photoshop Ele-
ments can read and you can access it from your computer, it can be imported into Pho-
toshop Elements.
Understanding Photo Resolution
Before importing your media, it is a good idea to understand photo resolution. Digital pho-
tos are made up of pixels. A pixel is a tiny colored dot that together with many other dots
creates the image in your photo.
The more pixels in an image, the higher the resolution of the photo. Photos with a high res-
olution are better in clarity and detail. Resolution in a camera is measured in megapixels
(MP). 1MP is really 1 million pixels in a square inch. Your digital camera is set to take
pictures based on a resolution, such as 5MP, or 5 million pixels per square inch. Be aware
that a high-resolution photo is large in physical file size. Based on the memory capacity of
the camera/memory card, you can store only so many photos. If needed, you can usually
set the resolution lower in your camera settings so you can store more images.
