Using the Browse Button
The options and settings in the Preference window often have a Browse
button that lets you locate a file or folder on your computer for establish-
ing a new default location or file. When you click the Browse button, a
Select window displays for you to locate the file or folder for the preferen-
ce setting.
Resetting Preferences to Default
If your Adobe Photoshop Elements starts to behave weirdly, the preferen-
ce file might be damaged. You can restore all preferences to the default
setting by either of these two techniques:
• Launch Photoshop Elements and immediately after launch, press and hold
Option-Command-Shift (Mac) or Alt+Control+Shift (PC). A message dis-
plays indicating that the Preference files for Photoshop Elements needs to
be deleted. Click Yes.
• Choose Photoshop Elements, Preferences (Mac) or Edit, Preferences, Gen-
eral (PC) to open the Preferences. Under the General category click the
Restore Default Settings button.
Be aware that you cannot undo the restore function after it is initiated.
Setting the Photo Editor Preferences
The Photo Editor also has its own preferences for customizing options and settings. These
preferences focus on setting default options and settings for photo editing. There are slight
differences between the Mac and Windows versions of the Photo Editor for Preferences
categories and settings.
