Release a Layer from the Clipping Layer Mask
You can release a layer that you have in a clipping layer mask by selecting
the layer and choosing Layer, Release Clipping Mask from the menu bar.
Understanding Blending Modes
You can apply Blending modes to images, shapes, and layers—any component in the Photo
Editor—to change the way they blend with the colors in the layers below them. Photoshop
Elements uses the following terms for blending color: base color, blend color, and result
color. The base color is the original color in the image, the blend color is the color you are
painting or applying to the image, and the result color is the resulting blend for the base
color and the blend color. When a Blending mode is applied, the Photo Editor performs an
analysis of the colors in the image and determines the base, blend, and result colors.
Normal —This blending mode is the default mode when you create a new layer.
You paint or edit each pixel with the blend color; it does not blend with the base
color, but covers the layer content below. The blend color is the result color.
