In-Depth Information
There are few ways to get additional functionality in Photoshop Elements 13. Adobe Add-
ons and third-party plug-ins are available for extending the functionality of Photoshop Ele-
ments in a variety of ways. For instance, you can download a plug-in for new special ef-
fects or enhancements and install it in Photoshop Elements. Now these new special effects
or enhancements are available to you when you work in the Photo Editor. There are Adobe
Add-ons and plug-ins for adding actions, brushes, styles, and custom shapes. This chapter
explores how to get a lot more functionality and features for the Photo Editor and how they
can be used immediately with your photos.
Extend Photoshop Elements Functionality
You can add Adobe Add-ons and plug-ins to extend Photoshop Elements 13 functionality.
These can be enhancements, filters, actions, styles, brushes, and custom shapes. Because
Photoshop Elements is similar to Photoshop, you can even install some of the Add-ons or
plug-ins that are made for Photoshop. Not all Photoshop Add-ons or plug-ins will work
with Photoshop Elements, but many do.
Adobe has free and retail Add-ons for both Photoshop Elements and Photoshop through the
Adobe Add-ons or Adobe Extension Manager.
Other third-party websites specialize in plug-ins for both applications. They offer free and
retail plug-ins that you can install to extend Photoshop Elements 13 functionality. You need
to search the Web to find these third party plug-ins and then download them.
Based on where you find your Add-on or plug-in, the site will have instructions on how to
install it.
1. To find an Add-on/plug-in, do one of the following:
• In your browser, search the Web with the keyword phrase “Photoshop Elements
Plug-ins” or something similar.
• In your browser, go to Adobe Exchange/Add-ons by typing ht-
tps://www.adobeexchange.com/ into your browser address line.
