Creating Shadowed Text
Photoshop Elements 13 does not have an option for creating shadowed
text, but you can use a workaround to create this text effect. To learn how
to do so, check out the online bonus content for this chapter at
www.quepublishing.com/title/9780789753809 .
Creating a Mask from Text
Text can be used as a mask, creating all sorts of fun effects for your text.
When you use text as a mask, the background of the photo becomes the
fill area of the text based on where you position the text block. You do this
instead of setting a color for the text. The Type-Horizontal Mask and the
Type-Vertical Mask are the next two Type tools in the Tool Options bar.
These two Type Tools create a masking layer. See Chapter 7 for how to
work with masking layers.
Creating Text on a Selection
You can also create text that flows along a selection. This tool requires a single line text
block but it is still a fun effect for a photo.
1. Open a photo either from Organizer or from your hard disk in the Photo Editor.
