11. Click the Shift Edge slider to shift the selection edge in or out of the selection area.
12. Click the Decontaminate Colors check box to maintain the tonal colors around the
edges of your selection. Click and drag the Amount slider to set the decontamina-
tion color amount.
13. Click the Output To menu and choose one of the following methods for how to
output the selection:
Selection —Output is just the selection area.
Layer Mask —Output is the selection created with a layer mask.
New Layer —Output the selection on a new layer.
New Layer with Layer Mask —Output is the selection on a new layer with a
layer mask.
New Document —Output is the selection to a new document.
New Document with Layer Mask —Output is the selection to a new document
with a layer mask.
14. Click Remember Settings if you want the Photo Editor to remember your settings
for use with other selections.
15. Click OK to apply the refined edge options and close the window.
Using the Magic Wand Tool Option
The final selection tool that we need to cover is the Magic Wand tool option. This tool op-
tion is part of the Quick Selection tool. We covered the Quick Selection tools in Chapter 6 .
In the Expert mode, the Quick Selection tool has one more tool option, the Magic Wand.
This tool makes selections based on colors and texture in the photo.
