Understanding How Organizer Imports Files and
Folders
When you import photos from another drive location to Organizer, it
creates a link to the location of the photo. It does not place a copy on
your computer. It does make a preview copy of the photo and it is cre-
ated with a lower resolution setting; the default is 640×480px. This pre-
view copy is what the Viewer displays, and it is used for the thumbnail
image. If you delete an imported photo from the disk drive it is stored
on, this breaks the link between Organizer and the file. The thumbnail
preview copy of the file still displays in the Viewer, but now it shows a
question mark icon in the upper-left corner of the thumbnail. This indic-
ates that the linked photo is missing or can't be found.
To reconnect the thumbnail with the file, do the following:
In Organizer, click File, Reconnect, All Missing Files from the menu
bar.
