The chapter indicates that the storage of files on CDs nor
mally can be contiguous. Files are inserted, but not deleted, so
that disks fill up from one track to the next. Although this is
the traditional means for storing data on CDs, new technol
ogy allows files to be deleted as well.

Disc. To what extent might fragmentation arise when files
are deleted with this technology? Does the answer depend
upon whether the disk is rewriteable or not? Explain your
answer.
