Test your Photo Stream
Now that you've set up Photo Stream, it's worth giving it a quick test. Take a photo on one of your
iOS devices and check that it appears in the Photo Stream section of the Photos app. Now wait a
minute or so and check your other devices in turn to make sure the image has appeared in the Photo
Stream there, too.
If the image doesn't appear on your other devices, first make sure they and the device you took
the image on are connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi. If the Internet connection wasn't the issue, try
turning Photo Stream off and on again (an oldie but a goodie) to renew the connection. If neither of
these techniques work, make sure you are using the same iCloud account on all your devices.
Extra features for iPhoto users
As you might expect, Photo Stream is well supported on Macs, so there are a few settings in
iPhoto that PC users don't have equivalents for in the iCloud control panel. In iPhoto, adjust these
options in the Photo Stream pane in the Preferences dialog box (choose iPhoto > Preferences), shown
in Figure 5-4. You can adjust several settings such as automatic imports and uploads, which are
handy for keeping your Photo Stream organized by adding images that you import to iPhoto to the
Photo Stream on all your devices. The Automatic Import feature allows you to add Photo Stream
photos to other iPhoto collections such as Events, Photos, Faces, and Places so you don't create a sep-
arate selection of photos from your camera. Additionally, Shared Photo Streams also can get their
own section in iPhoto.
