The Bluetooth Setup Assistant on a Mac
If you connected an audio device, it should automatically be your default audio output device. If
not, go to the Sound system preference's Output pane and click the Bluetooth device's name in the
list to make it the active audio output. If the Bluetooth device still doesn't play your audio, go back to
the Bluetooth system preference, select that Bluetooth audio device, then choose > Use as Audio
Device in the menu at the bottom of the Bluetooth system preference, or choose Use an Audio Device
in the submenu for the Bluetooth device in the menu bar's Bluetooth menu ( ).
To pair a Windows PC to a Bluetooth device:
1. Go to the Control Panel (via the Start menu in Windows XP, Vista, and 7; via the Settings
charm or the File Explorer in Windows 8).
2. In the Hardware and Sound section, click Add a Device.
3. Make sure your Bluetooth device is turned on. Some devices have a button or other control
to enter pairing mode (see the user manual); put the Bluetooth device in pairing mode.
4. When your device appears in the Select a Device window, click it and then click the Next
button to access the Setup Wizard.
5. Follow the instructions in the Setup Wizard to complete the installation.
6. Go to the Sound control panel to set the Bluetooth device as the PC's speaker.
Use Bluetooth speakers in an AirPlay network
How you use Bluetooth speakers in an AirPlay environment varies based on whether you are
streaming music from an iOS device or a computer. Either way, you can't stream to both a Bluetooth
and an AirPlay speaker at the same time.
In iOS, you select the Bluetooth speakers via the AirPlay menu, just as you would an AirPlay
speaker. In OS X and Windows, you need to set your audio output to the Bluetooth device using the
