Pair Bluetooth devices
To pair an iOS device to a Bluetooth device:
1. Launch the Settings app.
2. Tap the Bluetooth label to open the Bluetooth pane.
3. Set the Bluetooth switch to On.
4. Make your Bluetooth device is turned on. Some devices have a button or other control to
enter pairing mode (see the user manual); put the Bluetooth device in pairing mode.
5. In a few seconds, the Bluetooth device should appear in the list of devices in the Settings
app's Bluetooth pane. Tap the device's name to connect to it, as shown in Figure 3-16.
6. The device may automatically connect. Otherwise, the Settings app may ask you to enter a
passcode or to confirm a passcode also shown on the device or noted in its manual. Consult
the device's manual for how it pairs.

Compared to AirPlay-enabled speakers, the Bluetooth variety is far less expensive. Bluetooth
speakers are often battery-powered, so you can charge them and take them wherever you need
without worrying about a power socket. When a Bluetooth speaker is turned on, you access it the
same way you would an AirPlay speaker: from the AirPlay button (
), as Figure 3-17 shows.
