3. Select each AirPlay device you want to stream audio to via the buttons to the right of each
name. Selected devices are highlighted in blue. To also play the computer's system audio
(such as alert tones), choose Computer.
4. Adjust the volume level for each AirPlay device using the slider next to its name.
5. To fine-tune your audio output, click the Mixer button at the bottom right of the window to
display the Effects dialog box. Adjust the audio settings as desired and close the dialog box.
6. Begin playing audio from the app you chose. If all is working correctly, the audio should
stream, after a brief delay, to all the AirPlay devices you selected.

Use a computer or mobile device as an AirPlay speaker
If you are limited by the number of AirPlay speakers in your home or you don't have any, there is
another way to get involved in the AirPlay party. The brilliant developers of Airfoil have created a free
little app called Airfoil Speakers (see Figure 3-10) that can turn a Mac , a Windows PC , a Linux PC , an
iOS device , or an Android device into an AirPlay speaker. You must be running Airfoil on your com-
puter for Airfoil Speakers to work. Figure 3-10 shows an iPad receiving audio from a Mac via Airfoil
Speakers.
