Tapping the Multiple button in the Remote app's AirPlay devices list (the button's name
then changes to Single) allows multiple speakers to be selected and have their volumes
independently controlled.
Stream Audio from iTunes
iTunes on a computer allows you to stream audio to a single AirPlay speaker or to multiple ones
if required, by selecting the available devices via the AirPlay button (
) at the top of the window.
If the AirPlay button ( ) doesn't appear when you launch iTunes, make sure you have the
most recent version of the software (available from
www.itunes.com
) and that your computer is con-
nected to the same network as the AirPlay speakers (or Apple TVs) you want to use. Windows PC
users often have trouble with AirPlay and, if so, should try disabling their firewall or antivirus soft-
ware temporarily or reinstalling the Bonjour software that installs with iTunes for Windows (get it
from
www.apple.com/support/bonjour
)

When you are streaming via AirPlay, it's best to use a higher volume setting in iTunes than on the
speaker itself to achieve the best sound. This doesn't mean whacking the volume up to full and play-
ing music at potentially speaker-damaging, if not ear drum-damaging, levels. As a general rule, you'll
