Turn on Automatic iTunes Downloads
The Automatic Downloads feature uses iCloud to detect when a song, app, or book is downloaded
on one of your devices and then automatically downloads the same content on your other iCloud-
connected devices. With this setting turned on, you can happily download content and be safe know-
ing that it'll be waiting for you when you access another of your devices.
For example, let's say you hear a song on the radio when you wake up one morning and down-
load it from the iTunes app on your iPad. On the way to work, you fancy hearing it again, so you pop
in your iPhone headphones, access the Music app, and there's your song. The same is true of books
you might be reading on your iPad or games you're playing: If you download them on your iPad, both
will be available on your iPhone or iPod Touch if you want a quick distraction on your lunch break.
Use the Settings app's iTunes & App Stores pane on iOS devices to enable Automatic Downloads,
as Figure 2-7 shows. You can separately enable the Music, Apps, and Books switches. (Apps and
books that aren't compatible with a particular device will not be automatically downloaded, such as
an iPad app on an iPhone or an iPad Multi-Touch book on an iPhone.)
