7. Press and hold the up button on the third-party remote until the blue progress bar on the
Apple TV advances all the way to the right.
8. Follow the training routine until you have taught your Apple TV all the standard buttons.
The Remote Control Name screen then appears.
9. Type the name you want to give the remote.
10. Select Submit. The Setup Complete screen appears. If you're done setting up the remote, se-
lect OK and skip the remaining steps.
11. If you want to set up extra buttons on the remote to control playback, select Set Up Playback
Buttons. The Learn Remote screen then appears, as shown in Figure 10-9.
12. Press and hold the Play button on the third-party remote until the blue progress bar on the
Apple TV advances all the way to the right.
13. Continue the training process by pressing and holding each button until you have con-
figured all that you want to use for playback on your Apple TV.
14. When you reach the end of the training, the Remotes screen appears again, and now in-
cludes the remote that you added in the Other Remotes list. Press the Menu button to re-
turn to the General screen, and then press it again to return to the Home screen.
