Sending postcards while you're on vacation is such an outdated idea. With Apple's Cards app (see
Figure 9-12), you can snap a photo and have it sent as a e-card to friends and family back home. With
a number of themes to choose from as well as photo manipulation and custom messages, the app is
free but you pay $5 to have the card printed and sent.
A word of warning from my personal experience with this app: Almost every time I have sent
cards from Cards while on vacation, I've arrived home before they have been delivered. So it's best to
use Cards right at the start of your holiday unless you don't mind your friends and relatives having to
wait around to hear about your trip.
