You can also view your results via an app on iOS devices. The clever scale not only looks good but can
figure out which person is using it, so you can add an account for each member of your household
and challenge one another to a weight loss battle.
Likewise, the $130 Withings Smart Blood Pressure Monitor measures your blood pressure and
provides a readout on your iOS device's screen.
iPad Headrest Mount
For long car journeys, an iPad can be the perfect tool to calm even the rowdiest toddlers with a
Disney movie or a child-friendly game. The danger, of course, is that the iPad doesn't stay in their
tiny grasp for the entire journey. Enter the $70 Gripdaddy headrest mount that offers a fairly con-
venient way to attach an iPad to a car headrest so little ones can see the screen but not pick up the
iPad. Put on your kids' favorite movie and drive in peace without the inevitable “are we there yet”
from the back seat.
GarageBand
Apple's $5 GarageBand app is one of the finest pieces of music software available for the iPad.
Since its launch, it has been updated to include multi-user features so a group of people can play in-
dividual instruments together using multiple devices (see Figure 9-10).
The band leader in the group receives all the individual tracks on their device so they can edit the
recordings into a finished song. The band leader can also set the key and time signature and all con-
nected devices sync to those settings to make sure everything is in tune time.
GarageBand projects can also be sent to iCloud to edit them on multiple devices, and thanks to
iCloud Documents syncing (see Chapter 8 ) , they always remain up-to-date. You can even send pro-
jects created on an iPad to GarageBand for Mac or to Apple's advanced music production tool, Logic.
