Use iCloud Documents
When Apple introduced iCloud Documents in spring 2012, many people thought they would be
able to do away with their Dropbox and SkyDrive accounts in favor of the iCloud alternative. Al-
though that's sometimes possible, iCloud Documents doesn't work the same way as most services
that simply allow you to store files in an online folder for access on other computers and devices.
iCloud Documents is more of a syncing service for iOS and OS X apps than a storage service.
Documents saved to iCloud are kept synced with the same app on all devices linked to the same
iCloud account. Thus, iCloud Documents are treated as part of an app's contents, not as independent
files as they would be on a traditional cloud storage service (or on a computer).
For example, if iCloud Documents is enabled for Pages on your iPad, as well as on your iPhone,
any file you're editing on the iPad is available to Pages on the iPhone, and as you make changes to
that document on any device those changes are kept synced to all the other devices as well — as long
as they have Internet connections, of course. Pages on the Mac can also access these documents, with
any changes made there synced to Pages on all your other devices. Pages on a Mac (running OS X
Mountain Lion) can also save a new document to iCloud, making that document available to Pages on
