Check the Status of iCloud Services
Every now and again, things don't work the way they should, so you end up fiddling with
settings and resetting apps and devices to fix the problem. There's nothing more infuriating
than to find that it wasn't your fault at all but that of the service provider.
Apple is no different, so if your e-mail, contacts, notes, or any iCloud syncing features starts
going awry, it's worth checking with the iCloud servers before you go into maintenance mode.
To do this, visit www.apple.com/support/systemstatus in any browser to see the current condi-
tion of several Apple services, including iCloud, iTunes, and Siri. Shown below, this page is one
you should bookmark or add to your device's Home screen for quick access.
Sync Notes and Reminders
The Notes and Reminders apps on iOS devices and Macs (Figure 7-8 shows the Mac versions)
can sync all your notes and reminders to all your iCloud devices. You can also use the Notes and Re-
minders apps with non-iCloud services such as Gmail for notes and Hotmail for reminders.
For iCloud syncing of notes and reminders to occur on iOS devices, you need to turn on the Notes
and Reminders switches in the iCloud pane of the Settings app. On a Mac, be sure that the Notes and
Calendars & Reminders options are checked in the iCloud system preference. If you want to sync
