Chapter 7
Staying Organized on the Move
As well as being connected to your e-mail and messages while you're out and about, there are other
important considerations to staying organized.
First, there are your calendars. How often do you agree to attend an event only to forget until you
are reminded the day before? With a synced calendar in your pocket, you can quickly add an event and
even set reminders that appear on all your iCloud-connected devices.
Second, for non-calendar events and ideas, you can use notes and reminders to organize your
thoughts so they're ready and waiting on all your devices. You can even use third-party apps to boost
your productivity and store a wide range of inspirations as I describe later in this chapter's section on
Evernote .
Third, bookmarks can also be synced. Plus, the iCloud Tabs feature automatically lets you access
currently and recently open websites on your other iCloud-connected devices, so you can use your iPad
at the office to go to a website open at your computer at home — no need to remember its URL.
Fourth, you can even keep important files at your finger tips via iCloud Documents (see Chapter 8 )
or other cloud storage services like Dropbox. If you are using a Mac remotely, use Back To My Mac to
access files on your desktop computer.
Connect Your Calendars
To make the best use of the Calendar app on iOS devices as well as on a Mac (see Figure 7-1) or
services like Google Calendar, you first need to set them up to sync with all your devices. Once they are
set up, you can edit and view your calendar events on any iCloud device and set alerts to trigger on
those devices, too. This is an ideal solution to avoid missing important events, deadlines, and birth-
days. As part of the Facebook integration I described in Chapter 6 , your Facebook friend's birthdays
can also added to your calendar.
You can share your calendars with others to view or share them privately so others can edit them.
You can also subscribe to calendars shared by others and access them on all your devices.
