4. You can also use the Friend Suggestions button in that dialog box to get a list of people from
your contacts list who are already using the app, so you can send them invitations.
5. When a person accepts your invite, his or her location appears on the map on the Friends
screen, and you'll see an entry for that person in your Friends list.
When you're meeting friends and family at a large event, it can be handy to share your location
for a period of time so you can see when people arrive and where they are, especially if you're out-
doors or in a crowd. In the Find My Friends app, you can invite contacts to temporarily share loca-
tions for a set period, after which locations will not be shared.
1. Tap the Temporary button at the bottom of the screen.
2. Tap the Invite Friends button.
3. Enter e-mail addresses or contact names in the To field and add a name for the event you
will be attending in the Name field.
4. Tap the Ends field and select a date and time for location sharing to end.
5. Tap the Send button to invite friends to temporarily share their location.
To be notified when a friend arrives at or leaves a location:
1. In the Find My Friends app, tap the Friends button at the bottom of the screen.
2. Tap the name of a friend from the list next to the map and then tap the Notify Me button (at
the top of the screen on the iPhone and iPod Touch, and at the bottom right on the iPad).
3. In the window that appears, tap Leaves to be notified when a friend leaves his or her current
location. Tap Arrives to be notified when a friend arrives at a location, tap Arrives. Specify
the location you want to be notified about by tapping the field below Arrives; you'll see My
Current Location as an option, as well as any addresses for that person in your contacts. Tap
Enter an Address to specify another location.
If you want to temporarily stop sharing your location through Find My Friends:
1. Tap the Me button at the bottom of the screen.
2. Set the Hide from Followers setting to On (see Figure 6-10).
