The Find My Friends app
Privacy fears aside, there are real benefits to using Find My Friends with your close friends and
family. First, you could use it when attending a sports match, concert, or any other major event
where you're likely to be spread out over a large area. Second, the app makes it easier to meet up with
people in a new location rather than have them give you directions. The app is also very useful for
those who work at home to get a handle on when a partner is headed home from the office so you can
put the kettle on or put some effort into making it look like you've been working hard all day. For
these situations, you can set the app to alert you when a contact arrives at or leaves a specific loca-
tion, and you can send alerts to others when you do the same.
Find My Friends doesn't come preinstalled on iOS devices, so has to be downloaded from the
App Store. Once downloaded and installed, you need to log in with your iCloud username and pass-
word, and then invite others to use the app so you can see their location and they can see yours. Find
My Friends can also access your contacts to suggest people to invite who are already using the app.
1. Tap the Friends button at the bottom of the screen to display your friends and their current
locations.
2. To add a friend, tap the Add button (the + icon) at the top of the screen.
3. In the dialog box that appears, enter the name or e-mail address of the person you want to
invite in the To field. Add a message if you want as well. Then tap Send.
