In-Depth Information
Faced with the prospect of the next last first contact in a landscape
being destroyed as rapidly as the forces of modern technology will allow,
having already jettisoned the few real possibilities to envision any other
outcome, we wait . . . for what? I do not know but it is highly likely that
the day will dawn when they stumble terrified out of the scraps of forest
or choose to take their own lives. Only one thing is certain: when they do,
we will not be mourning merely the demise of the last wild Indians.
