Area Codes
USVI area code is 340.
BVI area code is 284.
Local Calls
Local calls from a public phone, which include inter-island
calls, cost 35ยข for each five minutes. Calls to the BVI are
billed at international rates.
Phone Cards
Phone cards are used throughout the islands. You can buy
them in several denominations at many convenience stores.
Special card phones are widely available.
Long Distance Calls
AT&T, MCI and Sprint have access codes that make
long-distance dialing simple. Some hotels block those codes,
however. In that case, ask to be connected to the interna-
tional operator or make your calls from a pay phone. The fol-
