force is then transferred across the truss chord and into the next block. The total force on
the right side of the detail is equal to Σ F = F 1 + F 2 + F 3 + F 4 . Bearing stress perpendicular to
the grain on the truss chords should be checked. The width of the blocking should be
increased as necessary to reduce the bearing stress to acceptable levels. The location of
bearing of the block on the truss chord is assumed to act at middepth of the blocking,
