Determine the overturning force (see Fig. 10.7): Most of the examples in other
publications ignore the location of the centerline of the hold-down anchor and center
of bearing, when determining the moment-resisting arm. This is usually so because
the eccentricity of the hold-down with respect to the outer edge of the panel is
difficult to address, when analyzing a wall with the FTO method. In this example,
embedded tie strap anchors are installed at each end of the wall, as shown in the
figure, to eliminate the eccentricity problem.
