line B. It is reasonable to assume that the left reaction of section B is equally distributed
into both transfer diaphragms.
Load distribution into the diaphragm: The loads applied to the diaphragm, in this case, are
caused by seismic forces. Assume that the total lateral seismic load (plf) to the diaphragm
between grid lines A and B is 200 plf. The loads are distributed into each section in
proportion to its depth, as shown in Fig. 4.7.
