chord. To the right grid line 2 is the main body of the diaphragm. The section bounded
between grid lines 2 and 3 from A to C has been designated as a transfer diaphragm,
which is used to transfer the disrupted chord force into the main diaphragm. The dis-
continuous chord at grid line 2B must be extended the full depth of the transfer dia-
phragm by means of a collector. The disrupted chord at that location imposes its force
on the transfer diaphragm similar to a simple span beam with a concentrated load.
