versity database system. Notice the data elements for the two processes seen
through the two windows.
Data Views: Two Perceptions
You have now perceived data views from two sides of the entire database devel-
opment process. Let us summarize our discussion of data views so far using two
approaches. On one side, you have seen the real-world information requirements
as a collection of individual data views. From the other side, you have perceived
data views as windows into the completed database system. Figure 5-13 demon-
strates the two perceptions of data views from both sides.
