4 months, from July to October, peaking in August and September. Thus, plenty of
water is available in Bangladesh for at least seven months in a year, as against for
4 months in India. In fact, out of the total area of about 141,000 km 2 of Bangladesh,
some 9,000 km 2 , i.e., about 6.50% covers water; this is one of the highest in the
world. Compared to this, about one percent area of India, i.e., about 33,000 km 2
covers water.
