In-Depth Information
The use of dietary fibres has also some practical drawbacks which could limit its
implementation. This relates to the environmental impact of high-fibre diets due to an
increased volume of manure produced (Philippe et al. , 2008). Findings demonstrate the
importance of an optimal formulation of fibrous diets in order to ensure an improvement
of sow welfare whilst satisfying environmental and economic requirements.
