subject to volcanic instability and seismic activity. These include the cold lahars
described above, which commonly contain angular blocks of partially lithified
fragments of a uniform pyroclastic rock type. Such deposits do
not
result directly
from volcanic activity but reflect disruption and flow of partially lithified pyro-
clastic material. Such material may not be strictly volcanic in origin and hence
may be termed sedimentary-slump deposits (cf. Tucker, this topic series).
