Known as the greenest island in Croatia, lovely Mljet sits just off the coast of Dubrovnik
and can be accessed by an hour and half ferry ride from the port. Mljet is a great place to
visit if you want to take a day trip from Dubrovnik and there are plenty of opportunities for
outdoor pursuits in the lushly forested national park area covering the northwestern half the
island. If you're not feeling particularly adventurous or energetic, then head to the shoreline
for lovely beaches perfect for sunbathing or swimming in the azure waters. The best thing
about Mljet is its timeless Mediterranean village atmosphere, even in the height of summer.
